Kate’s Girls Night Out at The Odeon

Photo Credit: celebrity-gossip.netKate Middleton made an appearance in London on Thursday, attending the premiere of Tenacity on the Tasman at The Odeon in Leicester Square.  The film is a documentary about Olly Hicks’s attempt to row solo around the world.  Olly is a friend of Prince William, and his rowing sojourn was sponsored by Sir Richard Branson, whose daughter, Holly Branson, is also a friend of Kate and William.

To the premiere, Kate wore a blue dress that was last seen in public on an evening out last December with Prince William.  She paired the dress with black tights and boots and a black jacket and pashmina.  She carried a black handbag and accessorized with a pair of gold chandelier-style earrings.

Kate attended the event, which helped to raise money for the charity Hopes and Homes for Children, with Holly and friend Trini Lough.

William and Kate Dine in the Dark

Photo Credit: danslenoir.comPrince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly become fans of a restaurant in Clerkenwell, an area of central London, which serves its patrons in complete darkness.

Sun reporter Duncan Larcombe writes that “Diners at Dans Le Noir? in Clerkenwell are told their tastebuds are heightened when they can’t see.”  The restaurant’s name means “In the dark?” in French.

The restaurant’s website states, “Our blind staff serves you as your guides in this completely unknown environment. They will welcome you in the lit area, lead you to the dark room and take care of you to the end of the whole dining experience. They will sit you, serve you food and drinks and most of all make you feel comfortable with the darkness. You will be surprised to find yourself so comfortable in this completely new and unique atmosphere.”

Larcombe’s source believes the pair likes the restaurant more for its privacy factor than for the unique eating experience it provides, however.  The source explains, “William can take Kate along and know no one will see him. He’s actually very shy. He feels uncomfortable when people stare.”

Paparazzi Video of Kate and Pippa Surfaces

This video clip was recorded on October 17, 2007, outside of Raffles nightclub in London.  Kate is seen leaving the club on King’s Road, Chelsea, with her younger sister, Pippa.  The two are besieged by photographers, and Kate covers her face with her hand while Pippa seems to use a mobile phone to record the incident.

When the paparazzi ask Kate to move her hand, she refuses, clearly telling them that this is her “private life.”  The photographers disperse, laughing and calling her “royal highness” over their shoulders.

It’s really no wonder Kate left London for the relative calm of Bucklebury, isn’t it?  Members of the royal family would have security with them to help control a scene like this, but their girlfriends and boyfriends must fend for themselves until the relationships are made official.

William and Kate Get a “Hangover”

Film poster for "The Hangover" (Photo Credit: vintagebooks.wordpress.com)Prince William and Kate Middleton reportedly managed to sneak in a secret date to the cinema last week, catching a showing of the American comedy The Hangover, starring Bradley Cooper.

British Royal Wedding has the story from the Daily Express.  Apparently the pair were spotted out at a movie theater in London without attracting photographers.  The paper reported that “Wills and Kate, both 27, snuck into the west London cinema in jeans, T-shirts and baseball caps.”

They added, “A source at Cineworld in South Kensington said: ‘No-one expected royalty but they acted like normal people off the street. It was dark so not many people had any idea who they were. I think they liked the anonymity.’”

It’s not the first time the pair has headed out for a movie date; they apparently saw a showing of The Young Victoria in London earlier this year.  That film starred Emily Blunt and Rupert Friend as William’s great-great-great-grandparents, Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

Kate Attends Online Marketing Seminar

Photo Credit: PurePeopleWhile many wrote earlier that the pictures of Kate in London taken this week (and posted on this blog yesterday) as a part of a shopping trip, we’ve now learned that she was actually in the English capital on work business for her parents’ firm, Party Pieces.

Multiple reports came from Twitter yesterday that Kate was in attendance at the Online Marketing Show Live conference in London.  The website for the conference touts the event as “honest, edgy, relevant and addressing the key online marketing topics of the day! Brought to you by the respected New Media Age editorial team.”

Kate’s attendance at the seminar didn’t escape her fellow attendees, who used Twitter to record their shock.  Fergus Burns tweeted, “I’m pretty sure I spotted Kate Middleton at onlinemarketingshow – future Queen an Internet geek !!”  Chris Matenaers, obviously not a British tabloid reader, reported, “I also sat next to Kate Middleton, who guys told me is dating Prince William.”  Matthew Wood marveled, “Kate Middleton even sat on our bean bags at the a4uexpo stand!”

Kate apparently attended several workshops on June 30 and July 1.  Blogging 101 presenter Ciaran Norris of Mindshare tweeted, “Kate Middleton in audience of my talk at Online Marketing Show. Was hoping she’d ask a question, but no such luck.”  After his talk on e-mail marketing, Duncan Birch tweeted, “Just found out kate middleton was in the audience for my talk at the online marketing show. :) ”

New Media Age publisher Andy Oakes added, “just seen Kate Middleton on a beanbag. is that whaty future possible royalty should be doing?” Katy Howell, who presented a talk on Twitter, used her own account to tweet, “Apparently Tara just told me that Kate Middleton was in my Twitter seminar – i wonder why?”

The “why” of Kate’s attendance at the seminar is probably connected to her work with Party Pieces.  As the company sells many of its products over the internet, and Kate is reportedly involved with their online catalogue, she may have been attending to learn new ways to promote her family’s brand.
