Photo Credit: danslenoir.comPrince William and Kate Middleton have reportedly become fans of a restaurant in Clerkenwell, an area of central London, which serves its patrons in complete darkness.

Sun reporter Duncan Larcombe writes that “Diners at Dans Le Noir? in Clerkenwell are told their tastebuds are heightened when they can’t see.”  The restaurant’s name means “In the dark?” in French.

The restaurant’s website states, “Our blind staff serves you as your guides in this completely unknown environment. They will welcome you in the lit area, lead you to the dark room and take care of you to the end of the whole dining experience. They will sit you, serve you food and drinks and most of all make you feel comfortable with the darkness. You will be surprised to find yourself so comfortable in this completely new and unique atmosphere.”

Larcombe’s source believes the pair likes the restaurant more for its privacy factor than for the unique eating experience it provides, however.  The source explains, “William can take Kate along and know no one will see him. He’s actually very shy. He feels uncomfortable when people stare.”

Photo Credit: Mail OnlineExpress writer Camilla Tominey revealed this weekend that the Middleton family’s plans to renovate the garden of their Bucklebury home have been rejected by the local council, citing fears that “undesirable development” might follow as a result.

Tominey writes, “The green-fingered Middletons had hoped to take a leaf out of Prince Charles’s book and turn their garden into a self-sufficient oasis with its own vegetable patch and orchard … the Middletons were poised to more than quadruple the size of their garden by converting the paddock at the rear of their five-bedroom home.”

She adds, “As well as a large orchard and vegetable garden to attract wildlife, they planned a small woodland next to the swimming pool and tennis court.”

The Bucklebury Parish Council’s response was reportedly an unequivocal no, as they fear “the change of use would create a very large brownfield site that could be subject of an undesirable development in the future.”
