Photo Credit: Enigma/Mail OnlineMail columnist Katie Nicholl writes this weekend that Prince William and Kate Middleton recently dashed away on another mini-break holiday, this time to the south of France.

What’s perhaps more remarkable about the story is that the two of them again chose to fly in the economy section of the plane back to England.

Nicholl writes, “There was no special treatment for Prince William and Kate Middleton when they flew home from Marseilles to Gatwick in economy with their two plain-clothes protection officers after enjoying the sunshine in the South of France.”

Her source explains that “They were very sweet and very normal … They were casually dressed and boarded the plane with the rest of the passengers. They were very smiley to anyone who recognised them and spent most of the flight chatting away. At one point William leaned over and gave Kate a cuddle.”

Photo Credit: Mail OnlineKate Middleton was pictured twice last weekend wearing a diamond-encrusted watch, leading some newspaper writers to dub her the latest royal “WAG.”

Mail writer Julie Moult notes, “Kate was pictured [on Saturday afternoon] sporting a sparkling new watch on a visit to the hairdressers.  The dazzling timepiece has led some to compare Prince William’s girlfriend to a WAG, as footballers’ wives are often seen wearing similar kinds of ‘bling’ jewellery.”

She was also spotted on Friday evening by News of the World wearing the watch on a date with Prince William.  Robert Jobson writes, “The 27-year-old – dubbed Waity Katie because of Wills’ failure to pop the question – wore the tacky timepiece on a trip to the cinema to see Bruce Willis’s new movie Surrogates.”

He adds, “The face of the watch was surrounded by sparkly stones – but was it fake or the real deal? One playful onlooker mused: ‘Maybe it’s a WAG-Heuer or a Royalex?’”

Photo Credit: Mail OnlineKate Middleton, Prince William, and the entire Middleton family were out in force on Saturday evening to raise money for the Starlight Foundation, a children’s charity which was founded by actress Emma Samms.

The Mail reports that Kate “played hostess to a table of guests” at the auction fundraiser, which was held at London’s Saatchi Gallery.  One of the items up for bid was a party to be thrown for twenty children courtesy of the Middletons’ party supply company, Party Pieces.

Party Pieces has worked with the Starlight Foundation before, notably during the last Christmas season, when they helped throw parties for children in hospital in England.  At the time, Carole Middleton noted, “Kate has been the inspiration behind our involvement with Starlight Children’s Foundation, a UK charity that helps brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment.”

Mail writer Julie Moult revealed that “Kate has already raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the charity.”

Kate wore a long, gunmetal-gray gown with a plunging neckline, while Prince William opted for a shirt and jacket with no tie.  He was photographed speaking with some of the young children who have benefitted from the foundation.

The entire group reportedly continued the evening with a trip to nightspot Raffles, where Prince Harry was also reveling, in the wee hours of the morning.

William and Kate in the Daily Star (Photo Credit: TIF's Royal Forum)From Royal Romance:

Prince William and Kate Middleton made a rare appearance out on the town for a dinner date this weekend in London.  The two dined at Kensington’s Locanda Ottoemezzo restaurant, a posh Italian eatery, on Friday.

Kate wore a striking red dress on the outing, which ended with the two dancing at Kitts nightclub.  The Daily Star’s Clive Goodman reports that “William laughed at Kate’s attempts to shield her eyes from flashbulbs” when the two were besieged by paparazzi.

Restaurant review website toptable.com gives rave reviews to Locanda Ottoemezzo, calling it “a sensory homage to Federico Fellini’s Oscar-winning classic, 8½.”

Boyband member Jules Knight performing with Blake (Photo Credit: telegraph.co.uk)The Sunday People reported this weekend that a friend of William and Kate has spilled that 2012 is the likely date for a royal wedding for the couple.

Jules Knight, who attended St. Andrews with the pair, told the paper, “They’ve decided not to marry just yet.  William wants to wait until he is 30 and Kate is fine with that.”  William and Kate will both be 30 in the summer of 2012.

However, most royal watchers believe 2012 will not be the year, as the Olympics will be held in London that summer and The Queen will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee, the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

Additionally, Jules Knight has tried to use his connections to William and Kate before — for personal publicity.  He is a member of the “classical music boyband” Blake, and he promotes his music when talking to papers about his college friends.  He did so in this article as well, claiming that “[Kate's] mentioned Blake might be able to perform at the wedding, which would be brilliant for us.”

The group has a CD set to be released in the next few weeks after being dropped by their original record label.  Coincidence?
