Kate on the cover of issue #1086 of Hello! (Photo Credit: hellomagazine.com)Kate Middleton has gotten tons of attention this week for her appearance with Prince William at the wedding of Nicholas and Alice van Cutsem, and now she’s landed on the cover of Hello! magazine.

The issue promises lots of photos of the pair arriving (separately) at the Guards Chapel at Wellington Barracks for the nuptials last Friday.  It’s unclear, however, whether they have photos of the pair together at the wedding reception that followed.

The magazine reveals that Kate’s tan was indeed from a family holiday to the secluded island of Mustique, and according to one guest, William was very happy to have his long-time love back at his side: “If Kate dropped behind William for a second to greet a friend, he looked anxiously around until he found her gaze.”

You can read more about the issue, which features a large photo of Kate on the cover, here at the Hello! website.

Kate and William on the cover of Globe magazine (Photo Credit: globemagazine.com)They’ve been all over the British press for more than a week now, but the allegations against Kate Middleton’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, have just recently been picked up by the American press.

The Washington Post has an editorial on its online edition addressing the story, but with a really interesting look at the class prejudice that seems to underlie much of the discussion.

Mary Jordan writes, “Class in Britain is roughly equivalent to race in America — despite enormous strides toward equality, social standing simmers never far below the surface. ‘Yes, I think class is the primary element in all this,’ said Robert Lacey, a prominent royal biographer. Britain has become more of a meritocracy, and nowadays a member of the royal family can ‘dip into the gene pool of the proletariat,’ he said, in contrast with the old days of arranged marriages with other foreign highborns. But marrying above and below one’s station still brings ‘enormous fascination and envy. . . . Class is still a big issue.’”  Fascinating stuff, definitely worth a read.

“Press” is more loosely used, however, when it comes to the Globe magazine coverage of the story.  They put Kate and William on the cover of their most recent issue (see above), with a blaring headline about “William’s bride” and her cocaine scandal.  American readers know that Globe is one of the more ridiculous of the US supermarket tabloids, and anyone doubting its reliability should take a gander at the other stories on the cover.

But I’m doubly amused by this angle taken by Globe: “…now palace insiders say his step-mom Camilla is demanding the young lovebirds cancel their wedding.”  Because Camilla has a lot of pull when it comes to scheduling royal weddings! ;)

Kate Middleton on the cover of Hello! magazine (Photo Credit: hellomagazine.com)Kate Middleton is featured on the cover of the August 3 issue of Hello! Magazine, which promises to discuss her reaction to the allegations surrounding her uncle, Gary Goldsmith.

A recent photo of Kate watching Prince William play in the Chakravarty Cup at the Beaufort Polo Club in Gloucestershire accompanies the headline, which reads, “Kate Middleton Crushed by Revelations but William Is Her Rock.”  The story promises exclusive information.

Press reports on Kate’s reaction so far have noted that she is extremely upset, but has been supported by the royals, including Prince Charles, who has reportedly told her to put the scandal out of her mind.

Also featured on the cover are television presenter Noel Edmonds and his new wife, American actress Angelina Jolie, and football star David Beckham.

Photo Credit: globemagazine.comThe always-amusing American tabloid Globe is running a story on Prince William and Kate Middleton’s future wedding date on their cover this week.

According to the tabloid, Kate and William will be tying the knot on July 1, 2010 — a year from today, and, more significantly, Princess Diana’s 49th birthday.  And, even more hilariously, according to the mag, Camilla (who is always going bonkers about something, if you believe Globe) is on a jealous rampage as a result!

The magazine’s website trumpets, “BRITAIN’S most eligible bachelor is tying the knot with his beautiful love Kate Middleton – and GLOBE has all the hush-hush details! Find out why William decided to marry on July 1, 2010, his dead mother Diana’s birthday, and why palace sources say his father Charles’ second wife Camilla is beside herself with rage. Don’t miss it.”

Poster Mathilde at British Royal Wedding grabbed some snaps of the article, which features a hilarious photoshopped picture of Kate in a wedding gown and tiara, and a picture of a “furious” Camilla captioned, “Camilla is hitting the gin again, say sources.”  Check it out, have a laugh!

(To be fair, I’ve got summer 2010 in the wedding date pool.  Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Globe pegged this one correctly?) ;)

The cover of June’s Tatler magazine advertises a piece called “Kate Middleton’s New Look,” with a Kate look-a-like model posing in sample outfits that the fashion editors would choose for Kate.  Now a new video of that look-a-like, who is called Jodie Bredo, has been uploaded to YouTube:

Jodie’s interview is for Susan Scott Lookalikes, an agency which provides celebrity impersonators.  The company’s website explains, “Your gala dinner, charity ball, TV programme, advertising campaign, themed Oscar’s night or any corporate event will benefit from our celebrity doubles giving your occasion that ‘something extra.’”

If Kate and William do announce an official engagement soon, perhaps we’ll be seeing Jodie out and about more frequently in the media, maybe joined by some of the agency’s other royal doppelgangers, including Prince William double Mark Rattigan…
