Photo Credit: Mail OnlineKate Middleton was pictured twice last weekend wearing a diamond-encrusted watch, leading some newspaper writers to dub her the latest royal “WAG.”

Mail writer Julie Moult notes, “Kate was pictured [on Saturday afternoon] sporting a sparkling new watch on a visit to the hairdressers.  The dazzling timepiece has led some to compare Prince William’s girlfriend to a WAG, as footballers’ wives are often seen wearing similar kinds of ‘bling’ jewellery.”

She was also spotted on Friday evening by News of the World wearing the watch on a date with Prince William.  Robert Jobson writes, “The 27-year-old – dubbed Waity Katie because of Wills’ failure to pop the question – wore the tacky timepiece on a trip to the cinema to see Bruce Willis’s new movie Surrogates.”

He adds, “The face of the watch was surrounded by sparkly stones – but was it fake or the real deal? One playful onlooker mused: ‘Maybe it’s a WAG-Heuer or a Royalex?’”

They add, “So if, like her, you fancy bagging yourself a Prince Charming, here is a guide on how to keep yourself looking like a perfect princess,” following up with sections on moisturizing skin, selecting a natural foundation, and choosing products for lips, eyes, cheeks, and hair.

Photo Credit: thesun.co.ukBlogger Oxford Wright wrote last weekend on the development of Kate Middleton’s fashion sense at Wooden Spears, using two of Kate’s most famous Cheltenham ensembles as examples.

First Wright considers her 2007 duds at the first major British equestrian event of the season, when she famously attended alongside Prince William.  It was one of their first times attending a high-profile event as a couple.  They wore matching tweed blazers (pictured at right), leading many to call them a frumpy couple.

Wright explains, “On the Chelterham [sic] festival in 2007, she was criticized for wearing tweeds. She was even told that her fashion sense made her look older than the Queen.”

Wright marks this as the moment when Kate achieved fashion icon status, noting that she now frequently sports “trim, tailored clothes, generally from Katherine Hooker or wrap-dresses by Diane Von Furstenberg, which are figure-hugging but never too tight.”
